About Us
DUE2PAY came about after personal experiences in dealing with companies that delayed payment of invoices ,which were not actually in dispute, resulting in serious cash flow problems of our own.
It must be emphasised that these late payments were just that, late payments; no reasons were given.
We were left to wonder, do these late payers prefer the money in their bank or more sinister, are they on the verge of bankruptcy?
On one occasion, after several months courting a new and seemingly desirable account, we finally secured their custom. However, we were unaware this company was in financial difficulty and their existing suppliers had refused to trade with them any longer. After three months this company went bankrupt owing thousands of pounds to its suppliers
Many businesses go bankrupt owing money which in turn brings a supplier down as well.
However, the government's code of practice allowing suppliers to charge interest on delayed payments, is rarely used used or enforced.
In a perfect world of trade and commerce a supplier sells their product or service, the customer pays and everyone is happy. Unfortunately, in practice, running a business it isn’t always that simple.
Securing payment often involves making phone calls, sending letters and even threatening court action to encourage your customers to pay overdue accounts.
Your customer knows that it is far better for your money to sit in their bank account earning interest, rather than in yours. Unfortunately, thought is rarely given to how this affects a supplier’s cash flow. Withholding your services until payment is made is rarely effective; indeed why should a customer even bother paying when there are plenty of other suppliers eager to acquire their business?
Like many companies in your situation, you feel commercially isolated and frustrated; the only people that seem to be aware of your situation are you and your customer. You don’t want to push too hard in case you lose the business; however it could be argued that their custom is not worth having if you are not being paid!
Through DUE2PAY you can contact other businesses, even competitors who may be suffering at the hands of your customer.
Most credit checking agencies source their information from Companies House whose information is, ironically, submitted by the customers themselves in the form of year end accounts. This information can sometimes be several months out of date and will not show a company’s payment record to its suppliers which, in practice, is one of the most important things you need to know.
